Community Litter Picks in Ketton
The Ketton Climate Action Group is organising regular Community Litter Picks around the village, once a month on a Sunday morning. Following the success of an initial litter pick during the Big Green Week in September 2021, the group applied to Ketton’s Whitebread Trust for funding to buy a supply of litter picking equipment. The litter picks have gone from strength to strength with 19 volunteers joining the January event, filling 35 bags with rubbish, mostly from along the A6121 between Ketton and Tinwell. David Lewis from the Ketton Climate Action Group commented: “It is great to see so many people coming out on a Sunday morning to help keep their local environment clean and tidy, but it would obviously be better if everyone took their litter home with them. One of the many problems with the vast amounts of roadside litter is that a large proportion of the litter could be recycled if it was disposed of responsibly. Our volunteers attempt to separate out items which can be recycled, but we are only scratching the surface.”
Everyone is welcome to join the Community Litter Picks in Ketton. Please wear appropriate footwear and bring gloves. Litter picking equipment is provided, but feel free to bring your own litter picker if you have one. The litter picks normally take place from 10am to 11:30 on a Sunday morning, with different parts of the village covered each month. For dates of future litter picks, and details of where to meet, please refer to the Ketton Climate Action Facebook page KETTON CLIMATE ACTION | Facebook , or follow the group on Twitter (@KettonClimate).
