SUSTAINABLE SHOPPING OPPORTUNITY IN KETTON

UPDATE – AS AT THE BGINNING OF MAY 2022, RITA HAS STOPPED VISITING KETTON AS REFILL REVOLUTION ARE SEEKING A NEW DRIVER. WE WILL PROVIDE AN UPDATE AS AND WHEN THE SERVICE RESUMES.

A new way of shopping arrived in Ketton in January, in the form of a refill shop in the back of a lorry, providing local residents with the opportunity to stock up on a wide range of zero waste and sustainable products. The refill roadster, affectionately known as Rita, will be returning to Ketton every other Thursday morning, parking at Ketton Sports and Community Centre,

Rita the Refill Roadster is operated by Refill Revolution which also has reduced waste shops in Market Harborough, Oundle and Peterborough. Rita took to the roads in October 2021 with the aim of giving people in local villages access to environmentally friendly shopping.

Rita will be visiting Ketton Sports and Community Centre from 10:30am until 12 noon every other Thursday, at the same time as the weekly Ketton Hub Coffee Morning takes place at the Sports and Community Centre. Everyone is invited to bring their own containers in order to stock up with dry foods, household cleaning liquids and bathroom items such as shampoo and shower gel, all sold by weight. Rita also offers sustainable alternatives to household items such as toothbrushes, razors and kitchen sponges. Rita’s visits to Ketton are organised by the Ketton Climate Action Group which was set up in autumn 2021, as part of the Rutland Climate Action initiative supported by Rutland County Council.
